Diddy's Sentencing Date Revealed After Post-Trial Hearing

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ sentencing date has been finalized days after a verdict was reached.

During a remote hearing on Tuesday, July 8, Judge Arun Subramanian agreed to a proposal from both prosecutors and Diddy’s legal team to have the rap mogul’s sentencing date remain on October 3, the BBC reported.

“The parties have met and conferred and have agreed to the following schedules for sentencing,” a court document viewed by Us Weekly stated.

The update in the case comes less than one week after a jury found Diddy, 55, guilty of two counts of transportation to engage in prostitution on Wednesday, July 2. He was acquitted on the additional charges of racketeering conspiracy and two counts of sex trafficking. (Prior to the trial, Diddy pleaded not guilty to all of the charges.)

A Complete Timeline of Allegations and Verdict in the Diddy Trial

Later on Wednesday, the judge scheduled Diddy’s sentencing date for October 3, though his defense team requested that the hearing be expedited. While each charge he was convicted of carries a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, Diddy’s attorneys are seeking a prison sentence of 21 to 27 months, and prosecutors have asked for a sentence of 51 to 63 months behind bars. He will receive credit for the time he has served since his September 2024 arrest.

Although Diddy’s lawyer Marc Agnifilo advocated for his immediate release from the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn, New York, after the verdict, Subramanian denied the request for bail, ordering Diddy to remain in custody until his sentencing.

During a press conference held outside of the court after Diddy’s partial acquittal, his defense team maintained his innocence.

“Sean Combs has not sexually assaulted anybody, I’ve been saying this for months,” his attorney Teny Geragos said. “We’ve said this with each lawsuit that came out, and today that was proven true.”

The press conference concluded with remarks from Agnifilo.

“Today’s a great victory,” he said. “It’s a great victory for Sean Combs, it’s a great victory for the jury system.”

Agnifilo added, “We are not nearly done fighting. We are just getting started.”

Everything We Know About the Diddy Jury Who Decided the Rapper’s Verdict

Following the verdict, Mark Chutkow, a former federal prosecutor not affiliated with Diddy’s case, spoke to Us Weekly about his potential sentence.

“The prostitution charges were the least serious of the counts in the indictment,” he said. “While each has a 10-year statutory maximum, which could be imposed consecutively for a possible 20-year sentence, it is unlikely that the court would impose such a high sentence given the acquittal on the more serious charges. When imposing a sentence, the court will consider the fact that the prostitution charges did not involve a criminal enterprise nor allegations of force, fraud or coercion.”
