‘Listen to people talk’ – Patrick Mahomes fires warning to NFL as Chiefs star reveals Tom Brady’s offseason role

Patrick Mahomes said losing a Super Bowl is “the worst feeling in the world” and the feeling “will stick with you the rest of your career.”

February’s defeat to the Philadelphia Eagles, only his second in five attempts on the biggest stage, would be all the motivation he needs for 2025.

But Mahomes has also had to listen to the offseason noise, questioning if the Kansas City Chiefs‘ dominance is going to last.

That is a red rag to a bull for the Texas native, who sat down with Kay Adams ahead of training camp.

“I’ve had to sit back and just listen to people talk and talk. Let’s just play football and handle it all out there,” he said on the interview, which is released Monday.

The Chiefs play the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 1 before a grudge match against Jalen Hurts‘ Eagles.

Mahomes admits that ‘a lot of great football teams’ litter Kansas City’s early schedule, but has a seven-time world champion helping him improve.

Tom Brady has a lot on his plate with a minority owner role at the Las Vegas Raiders and his soccer club preparing for a new season.

But he still found time to share some tips with the man who may one day dethrone him as the undisputed GOAT.

“I’ve talked to Tom a good amount this offseason and it’s cool that he wants to give me advice,” admitted Mahomes.

Superstar tight end Travis Kelce insists he is locked in after deciding to return for the final year of his contract.

The gifted pass-catcher has plenty of options when he does decide to retire but, for now, is focusing on his game.

Mahomes may have found a way to combine the two, though.

Kelce’s latest acting gig is a role in the sequel to Adam Sandler’s iconic golf comedy Happy Gilmore, which is released on Netflix this month.

His quarterback wants the entire team to watch it as a show of support and way of strengthening their bond.

“Happy Gilmore, iconic movie of my childhood. I’ve heard his part’s great, he won’t tell me a lot. I want to rent out a movie theatre for a team bonding experience,” he told Adams.

When the Chiefs report for practice on July 25, the veterans know exactly what will be in store.

Head coach Andy Reid is known for his brutal workouts, and one drill in particular stands out.

Speaking to brother Jason Kelce, who also played under Reid for two seasons with the Eagles, Travis revealed that Big Red’s training drills are some of the craziest he’s ever seen.

“Andy has, in my opinion, the worst drill that I’ve done in training camp,” Jason began, speaking on the New Heights podcast last July.

Travis then asked his brother if it was the ‘long drive’ drill — which Jason confirmed — and the Chiefs star started to break it down for those unfamiliar.

“It’s a scripted set of plays, or an unscripted set of plays, that the coaches will have for you,” the tight end, who has been tipped to struggle in 2025, explained.

“The ones will go up against the ones for about anywhere from 14 to like 18 plays.

“No matter how many yards you gain on a play — you can score a touchdown as a wide receiver, like an 80-yard touchdown — and you’re gonna have to come back and run another play with like 70 yards left. You find out a lot about yourself in the long drive drill.”
