Reports have emerged revealing that there was more to why Kelly Clarkson canceled the first night of her Las Vegas residency, which was scheduled for July 4.

At the time, the singer told fans she was experiencing vocal issues and couldn't risk causing "serious damage" to her voice.

Now, these new reports suggest that Kelly Clarkson has also been "fighting some serious hidden battles" that have taken an emotional toll on her.

Just days after Clarkson unexpectedly postponed the opening weekend of her Las Vegas residency, a source has claimed that the decision was driven by more than just the vocal issues the singer initially cited.

According to the insider, the mother of two has been dealing with some "hidden battles" that have left her feeling emotionally and physically distressed.

"Kelly's personal life is so insanely complicated…Kelly is fighting some serious hidden battles that very few people are privy to … it's a source of emotional and therefore physical distress for her," said the source, per Page Six.

While it's unclear what these personal battles entail, Clarkson was noticeably absent from her self-titled show for 10 episodes in March and was also missing for a period the following month.

During those instances, guest hosts, including Andy Cohen, Simu Liu, and Kal Penn, stepped in to fill the role. Meanwhile, Clarkson's absence was attributed to personal matters.

A different source who spoke with the news outlet also confirmed that Clarkson's concerns about her voice were legitimate.

"She belts out every single note. She's an incredibly powerful singer, but it takes its toll on her vocal cords, and she's come incredibly close to needing surgery before," the insider shared.

"She cannot risk damaging her cords further – she's on thin ice," they added about the singer.

Despite Clarkson's sincere announcement regarding her vocal issues, many fans expressed frustration over the cancellation and called for some form of repercussions.

"If I traveled far to attend a concert and paid a lot for tickets, I would think we would get reimbursed for travel and for tickets. This is really not right for people to travel a long way for a concert," a netizen commented.

"I can understand you need to take care of & rest your voice; however, canceling minutes before the show is unacceptable & unprofessional," another individual remarked.

A third person wrote, "I genuinely believe artists should have to reimburse fans that travel for their shows and then cancel at the last minute."

Clarkson's residency was originally set to kick off at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace last Friday, but was canceled just 90 minutes before she was scheduled to take the stage.

It is now expected to begin this Friday at the same venue, which will also host the remainder of the residency.

Despite the delay, Clarkson has assured fans that the residency will be top-notch, as she emphasized in her announcement regarding the cancellation.

"I want the shows to be perfect for y'all, and I need to protect myself from doing serious damage, so I am taking this weekend and next week to rest up so that we can deliver what you all deserve," she wrote at the time.

She added, "The show is truly incredible. The musicians and singers are outstanding, and I want us all to start out strong. I can't wait to be back next weekend and show y'all what we've been working on."

When Clarkson's contract for her eponymous show expires in 2026, the singer may choose not to renew it.

Back in April, Page Six reported that she has been considering stepping away from the show to spend more time with her children, River Rose, 10, and Remy, 8, whom she shares with her ex-husband, Brandon Blackstock.

"Kelly's number one priority is her children, and they always will be," an insider said at the time. "The show is grueling. It's a whole lot of work, and I hear that Kelly would like to spend more time down South."

The same sentiments were echoed in the wake of the singer's absence from the highly rated show.

"She has her priorities, and her family comes first, but I think she's been humbled by the whole situation… what has happened has given her a moment of clarity, I think," an insider told the news outlet in May.
