Kesha Thanks ‘Salmon Sperm’ for Her Flawless Skin
Kesha’s glowy complexion is all thanks to the infamous salmon sperm facial.
While appearing on the Tuesday, July 8, episode of Monica Lewinsky’s “Reclaiming” podcast, Kesha, 38, and the pair were chatting about the benefits of placenta use before sidetracking to other beauty methods.
“I haven’t done that yet,” Lewinsky said of using placenta as a beauty treatment. “Like salmon DNA in your face. I haven’t done that.”
Kesha interjected and shared that she “put the salmon DNA” in her “face.”

Lewinsky asked Kesha if she liked the treatment before complimenting the pop star’s “gorgeous” skin.
“Thank you. I can thank the salmon sperm,” Kesha said while giggling. “It’s like a Korean trick.”
According to Vogue, a salmon sperm facial uses fragments of DNA extracted from salmon sperm, also known as polynucleotides. The sperm is injected into a person’s face with a needle in order to boost the skin’s hydration levels for a more dewy appearance..
Dermatologist Dr. Joshua Zeichner explained in a 2023 interview with PopSugar that salmon reproductive cells have been shown “to improve skin, hydration, plumpness, texture and wrinkles.”
“The effects on the skin are thought to be due to high DNA levels,” Zeichner said. “DNA is composed of amino acids, which have long been used in skin care for their hydrating and cell-renewing benefits.”
Results can last up to six months, and the treatment has an average cost of $500.
Kesha is not the only star to test out this beauty trend. The procedure grew more popular after Kim Kardashian admitted she takes advantage of the treatment.
“I got [a] salmon sperm facial,” Kardashian said in a July 2024 episode of The Kardashians. “With salmon sperm injected into my face.”
Other stars like Jennifer Aniston, Charli XCX, Denise Richards and more have been candid about getting a salmon sperm facial. Recently, Miley Cyrus revealed that she tried the treatment.
“I tried that salmon sperm. Have you heard about that? I tried it,” the singer said during a surprise intimate performance at Bemelmans Bar at The Carlyle Hotel in New York City last month.

In addition to revealing that she got the facial done, Cyrus gave some additional details about it.
“Tastes strange, but my skin looks good,” she said before clarifying, “I didn’t mean to drink it. It’s just like a whole [face] mask.”
Cyrus then lightened the mood by telling the audience a joke.
“I never met the salmon,” she joked. “It came pre-packaged.”
