“Over the weekend, during the devastating flooding that hit Central Texas, my family — like so many others — suffered a heartbreaking and deeply personal loss,” Green wrote in a statement shared via Instagram on Monday, July 7. “We are grieving alongside countless Texans whose lives have been upended by this tragedy.”
Green added that he and his family are asking for privacy as they “mourn, support each other and begin to process what comes next for our family.”

Pat is a country artist best known for his song “Wave on Wave.” He released his first album Three Days in 2001 and dropped his latest record Miles and Miles of You in 2022. Throughout his career, he’s received three Grammy nominations. Pat’s wife, Kori Green, reshared the statement on her page and added some context to the tragedy.
“Pat’s little brother John, his wife, Julia, and two of their children were swept away in the Kerrville flood,” Kori captioned the post. “We are heartbroken and anxiously waiting for all of them to be found. Thank you for your prayers.”
Kerrville is located around 270 miles from Fort Worth. The floods started on Friday, July 4, when water swept through Texas Hill County. As a result, the Guadalupe River rose 26 feet in just 45 minutes. A state of emergency was ordered on Sunday, July 6.
More than 100 people have been confirmed dead as of Tuesday, per the New York Times. Search and rescues are still going on.
Among the confirmed dead are at least 28 children who were attending Camp Mystic, a Christian summer camp, at the time of the flooding. One of the victims in the Camp Mystic flood was Janie Hunt, a relative of Kansas City Chiefs owner Clark Hunt. Clark’s wife, Tavia Hunt, spoke out via her Instagram Story about the loss of their young cousin.

“Our hearts are broken by the devastation from the floods in Wimberley and the tragic loss of so many lives — including a precious little Hunt cousin, along with several friend’s little girls,” Tavia, 53, wrote on Sunday.
Hours before learning that they were personally affected by the floods, the Hunt family donated to the tragedy’s relief effort.
“Our hearts are heavy as we witness the devastation and loss of life caused by the floods in Kerr County and Texas Hill County, especially for the young girls and their families, as well as all of those lost and their loved ones,” Tavia wrote via her Instagram Story. “We hold everyone impacted in our thoughts and prayers. Standing side by side with The Salvation Army’s critical response, we are also donating $500,000 to provide immediate resources for rescue, relief and long term recovery efforts.”
