Adrien Brody is not cut out for art, but his ego is allegedly too big to notice his underwhelming talents, at least according to the reviews he has been getting.

The "Peaky Blinders" star is no stranger to being trolled for his artwork; however, new reports claim fans aren't wrong for bashing his skills. Insiders alleged that people in the art world are beyond offended by the actor's creative efforts.

The scathing backlash comes months after Adrien Brody sparked media outrage for throwing his gum at his partner, Georgina Chapman, during the 2025 Academy Awards.

The negative reviews on Brody's artwork stemmed from his recently showcased paintings at New York City's Eden Gallery. A source claimed critics found his pieces "rather ugly" and even labeled them "cheap," stressing that nobody in the art world took the actor seriously as an artist.

They claimed many laughed at Brody's "so-called style" and he should have stuck to flaunting his artwork to his friends. Unfortunately, he believed his skills were greater than they appeared due to his "total lack of self-awareness." Another source echoed similar sentiments, telling RadarOnline:

"His most recent accomplishments were sourced from freely accessible photos, barely recognizing the line that separates collage from art. He came in like a financial Trojan horse. People stopped listening to him."

The Entertainer Advised To Stick To Acting

The source added that Brody wasn't cut out for art and "needs to stick with what he is great at, which is acting in movies." They blamed his overinflated ego on his inner circle, claiming he needed someone to tell him the bitter truth.

"Adrien clearly doesn't surround himself with people who will, to put it mildly, tell him no – and it's going to cause him further trouble," the insider declared. Despite these scathing comments and online trolling, Brody continues to enjoy success as an artist.

The entertainer, per Interview Magazine, reportedly sold a graphic, fragmented Marilyn Monroe canvas for $425,000 at auction during a gala held in Cannes. He also addressed his journey as an artist in an interview with the outlet, claiming his passion for art was not a minor hobby.

How Brody's Childhood Shaped His Journey As An Artist

According to the TV personality, his artworks detailed the various aspects of his environment that influenced his childhood. As a son of an artist, Brody claimed he was shaped as a painter by watching his father create beautiful works on canvases and growing up in New York City's Queens.

"It's kind of an unpeeling of the layers and almost a nostalgia for another time. But how, as a man, I can reflect on the influences of my youth and how they've shaped the man that I am today," Brody explained. He also revealed that he once considered dropping acting and focusing on art primarily.

The actor claimed he found "great creative autonomy and freedom in creating tangible, visual art." On the other hand, he felt restricted as an actor because that line of work involved interpreting the words of others and fitting into the designs stipulated by the producers, directors, and other creative minds.

Brody made a controversial appearance at the 2025 Academy Awards in March, sparking criticisms for tossing his gum at his girlfriend before hitting the stage. He won his second Best Actor Oscar that night and chose not to give his acceptance speech with the gum in his mouth.

Besides raising eyebrows for the bizarre moment, The Guardian reported that Brody gave the longest acceptance speech in Oscars history. He reportedly spoke for five minutes and 40 seconds, breaking the five minutes and 30 seconds record held by late actress Greer Garson.

Brody accepted the award for his performance in "The Brutalist," taking time to address the movie's importance and how it covered the traumas of the Holocaust. He spoke for so long that organisers tried to get him off stage using wrap-up music; however, Brody insisted on completing his speech.

Brody's decision to toss his gum at his girlfriend, Georgina Chapman, did not sit right with many. The Blast shared that these critics vehemently slammed the actor for his rude behavior, with someone claiming the moment was more shocking than Will Smith's Oscars slap.

While many called him out for mistreating his partner, Brody, on the other hand, did not see the problem. He defended his actions during an appearance on "Live With Kelly and Mark," telling the hosts:

"I could've swallowed it, but I didn't think about that. I had to get rid of it somehow."

Besides receiving heat for the gum-throwing incident, Brody faced backlash for his long acceptance speech. Many claimed his insistence to finish his commentary despite the wrap-up music playing was an "arrogant" move, while others noted he had nothing tangible to say.
